Miss Clara showed me my illness
First off, Miss Clara (the older woman) helped me to realize I had an illness.
I have a need to re-order my days so that I can recover from ADP (Arrested Prayer Development).
Evelyn Christianson
Many years ago, I had read books on prayer written by Evelyn Christianson. Gratefully, I was later fortunate to see her in person as she taught about her own personal prayer journey; and it moved me to take action. My prayer life caught on fire. Lots of time alone with God in my prayer closet was top priority in my life!
Gradual arrested development
I’ve never stopped praying, but I have been suffering from APD without even realizing it! It happened gradually. Over time. And, after seeing the movie War Room, I now clearly see my condition because of the character, Miss Clara!
The power of Grace
As I watched War Room I saw a lot of myself in Miss Clara. As a young woman, she had a troubled marriage. Sadly, my marriage was NOT revived, as HERS was NOT!
The value of Mentors
But, as she aged, she learned the truth and asked God for someone with whom she could share what she had learned. She asked God to use her to save other women’s marriages.
That is my passion as well! To help women avoid the landmines I fell into as a young woman. The ones I didn’t even realize were there until it was too late for me. My marriage was a landmine and it blew up right before my very eyes!
The value of remembering
The central message of War Room is focused Scripture prayers. And now that I have remembered what I had forgotten, I am delighted!
My own personal Miss Clara
So many years ago, as I searched for meaning in life, God gave me a Miss Clara…MaryAnn Bader. She SHOWED me Jesus and taught me by her example. And now, I am “Miss Clara” to other women, Moms, Wives, younger and older single women in transition! Thank you Mary Ann, for giving me such a good start in my walk with God. I am forever grateful!
He is GOD whether in the valley or on the mountaintop
I have lived through much of what was shown in this movie. I understand the pain of a a LUKEWARM marriage. I have learned that no matter what, God is greater than anything that brings us pain. God is indeed sufficient for all our needs!

How would your life be different if you prayed more about your marriage, your kids, your job?
Thanks Pam, We did have some long talks, I do remember that,
And of coarse the time at your house when Harry let me kow in no uncertain terms what he thought about religion, I almost fainted when he came to church, Good memories,
You were so patient with my questions and so constant with your prayers, MaryAnn. I am forever grateful!

MaryAnn, I pray you get to see the movie soon! You are my “Miss Clara”! Thank you for hanging in there even when Harry kicked you out of our house. I still remember your giggle and your comment back to him, “You’ll change your mind!” Little did he know that he became your prayer project and God said “YES!” Fun good memories!
