5 Helpful Tips for Worriers! Create a “Worry Jar”

How to know if you are a worrier

Ha! 🙂 You KNOW!

If you truly don’t know, just ask your family or closest friends. They will enlighten you. Yup!

5 helpful tips to conquer worry

jar-307595_640-pixabay copy1. Stop whatever you are doing and confess to yourself and to God that you are worried.
2. Find a jar with a lid. Write each of your worries on a separate paper. No one else needs to see this. This is between you and God.
3. Pray for each one as you write, telling the Lord you are giving it to Him. Ask Him to work in those situations you’re concerned about.
4. Stuff each “worry paper” individually into the “worry jar” and put the lid on it. Depend on Him for the wisdom and peace you need.
5. If there is something you can do, do it. Otherwise…When you are tempted to take the worry back, re-do steps 1-4.

Monthly project

Empty the “worry jar” and read each one.
Praise God for what He has done.
Write an answer to prayer on the ones that are no longer worries.
Do you need to put some back in the jar? That’s OK. Some things take longer than others!

If you aren’t already memorizing Scripture, now would be a good time to go to your Concordance and look up verses about worry. Scripture memory is your effective arsenal in your war against worry. Write them on 3×5 cards and carry them with you. Put them by your bed to read each night and each morning. Whichever way works best for you. But memorize. No one can ever take that from you!

Here is an example from Matthew Chapter 6: “Do not worry about your life…Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they.” (emphasis mine).

Your Heavenly Father is so much better than even the very best of earthly fathers. You can trust Him with your worry jar. He knows what you NEED (to draw you close to Him, and to be conformed to His image). It is not always fun, but He knows what is for your best. It may seem far from best, but reading the end of Hebrews 11 will remind you that the Christian walk is not promised to be an easy walk. Just ask our Savior!

I wouldn’t call myself a worrier, but I still like the idea of the worry jar! And memorizing scripture is so helpful! (I definitely need to do more of that.) I just happen to have my bible open to Psalm 91. He is my refuge and my fortress! 🙂 Thanks for the words of wisdom today, Pam!
