I recently watched The Hiding Place movie (the true story about Corrie ten Boom and her family). I have lost count of how many times I’ve watched it. Every time, I learn something!
Sometimes we women are competitive.
Sometimes we are so busy that we just forget to be supportive. But, God’s plan is for women to connect…to support…to mentor one other. The problem is that we often just can’t seem to figure out how to do that on a consistent basis in the midst of our own busyness.
Maybe you are longing for authentic and supportive relationship and fresh perspective. For joy…not happiness…but inner joy…that kind of joy that passes understanding and is not dependent on circumstances or people. Maybe you don’t have that naturally; and yet you feel an unexplainable God-given longing for connection. That is actually part of His plan. That longing.
Would you like to know WHY I watch The Hiding Place repeatedly?
As her sister faced death in the concentration camp, Betsy said to Corrie (who was already beginning to grieve the inevitable loss of her sweet-spirited sister):
“Tell them, Corrie…tell them that no pit is so deep that God’s not deeper still…They will believe us…because we have been HERE!”
Sometimes, the more we fight in our own strength, the deeper we get into the mess and the goo!
That’s the nature of quick sand, and sink holes, and pits. I’ve been told that being “still” is a good strategy.
Yes, dear Moms, though I have never been in a concentration camp, I have been in the pit many times. My life has had many unplanned and unexpected turns. Yet…through it all…I can testify that God has sustained me. ALWAYS. Not always as I would have wanted. But always BETTER in the long run! He has shown me that He is MORE than enough in ALL circumstances. Was it easy? No!! It was not easy for Betsy or Corrie, but He has proven Himself faithful both IN and OUT of the pit! He has been my Hiding Place. Is He yours?
Life is tough. There’s no doubt about that!
Full of curves and twists, ups and downs. Surprises. Some wonderful. Some that nearly crush us! It can be hard to make sense of it all.
However, God has already made provision for us. Our walk on earth is not meant to be alone. God wants women to connect with Him first of all, and then to connect with other women. Betsy and Corrie knew that. They had Bible studies in the barracks, even though it was forbidden. They found ways to be connected with other women in meaningful ways, even there in the midst of their horror.
A Safe Hiding Place for You.
Maybe you are longing for authentic and supportive relationship and fresh perspective.
I can be that “Betsy” for you…showing you the way to that safe hiding place (out of the quick sand goo, sink holes, and pits). A place where you can be yourself. Where you can discover and grow into more of the REAL you! The YOU that GOD had in mind the day HE created you! Yup! That’s what I do! As a Christian Life coach, I help women discover the beauty in their own souls. To see yourself as God sees you!
Then, reaching out (connecting) to other women becomes natural. And they to you!
It’s a beautiful thing!
Yup! That’s what I do: I’m The MomCourager! 🙂
How about you? Was this helpful? Have you ever been in a spot like that?
