We’ve all had them – those times with God where we actually KNOW that we KNOW that we KNOW that He is with us! The feeling is palpable. Maybe it was after a time we learned something new and deeper with God. Maybe it was in worship. Maybe a favorite song takes you right into the midst of experiencing God. Maybe it was in a retreat setting or during a walk by the lake or alone in your home with your Bible in prayer.
Or maybe it was after a time He obviously rescued you. Or maybe it was right smack dab in the middle of horrible news. Unexplainable. You should be upset and yet you sense His presence and so you know no matter what, all is well!
Mountaintops. We want to stay there because we FEEL so close to God there. But we are not meant to live there on the mountaintop. It is merely part of the journey toward the valley. Toward the Cross that we must each experience. The Cross is part of the journey “Home”. A necessary part. The part where we learn to be a little bit more like Him as we travel through that experience of our own personal Cross. We know it is OK because HE is with us. We are not alone. Not ever!
Mountaintops give strength for the long journey ahead…through the valleys and toward our final destination!
O Glorious Day when we see our King face-to-face.
That’s why I sign my name: Awaiting His shout. It reminds me that I am not Home yet. I’m merely passing through. I am living each day in sweet anticipation of Heaven. Home.
I’d love to know your thoughts about mountaintops and valleys and HOME! Please share!
