Stuff Happens. Where Do You Turn?

Psalm 121 (selected verses) “I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth…He who watches over you will not slumber…He will watch over your life…the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” (NIV)

We had just returned from the first leg of our missionary experience.
mountains-665199_300We were back from Language School and were staying at the home base in the United States, getting some more training and regrouping for the next phase. I had a nightmare one evening. I was deeply troubled. I didn’t want to disturb the rest of the family, so I went outside to walk around the mission compound to try to clear my head. The moon was especially bright that evening. I walked alone for hours.

I was crying pretty hard.
I had learned of a very sad fact concerning a loved one. The area where I walked was in a desert valley. And was totally surrounded by majestic mountains; and I could almost “feel” what Scripture calls His Majestic Glory. I’ve always loved that description of God. And those mountains clearly showed that attribute.

I walked back and forth with my eyes only on those mountains, asking God to take away the deep pain I could not shake off. The sorrow. The wondering about what I should do about what I now knew. It seemed like there were no good answers. Just questions. And sadness.

That verse became my constant companion for many days.
The Lord comforted me with the majesty of those mountains night after night, until my head cleared. He helped me see the reality that He had created them. AND, He had created me AND He knew what would strengthen me. I came to know that I was not alone after all. He would walk me through it all. It would be OK. Different, but OK.

For you:
Whether it is near mountains or oceans or something in between, the Creator is just a prayer away. He waits for you there. Lovingly. Expectantly. Devotedly. He is watching over your life. You are not alone.

Wonder of Wonders...
And now, through it all, God has trained and equipped me to coach others through their  mountains and valleys. I’d love to walk through your “stuff” with you whenever you are ready…

Until next time,
God bless you bunches!Button-Contact-Pam
