Breaking Through the Log Jams of Life

stencil.logs-300I hate change
This month has been a B I G challenge for me. I have felt like I am in a log jam and that the logs just keep piling up on top of each other.I hate change. I hate computer issues. So, guess what? My life has been full of both change AND computer issues. UGH!!! Don’t you love how God “grows” us?

My computer actually died
It died without any warning that it was even ill.  But God sent a very patient friend; and he saved the day. He found all my stuff on my old dead computer and recreated it onto my new computer. He helped with all the decisions and he set the systems up for me. He also patiently walked me through learning new things as I went through my MANY meltdowns and tears. I am forever grateful for his kindness, help and patience. (It might take him months to recover. lol)

I had to learn a whole new computer system
Windows 10. UGH! Did I mention I hate change? Winking smile We discovered that the email address book did not transfer. YIKES!!! Who knows the addresses in their inbox? (Reminds me: I want to spend time writing them down on a piece of actual paper…or in a little notebook…as a paper backup.)

And, there are tons of other changes
After lots of prayers and conversations with God, I changed churches recently. I am just beginning to get to know and be known. I was just getting used to and feeling comfortable in this new/different church. So, guess what? Change! (Maybe you know by now that I don’t like change.) So, another opportunity to “stretch” out of my “comfort zone”. So, now they are moving to a different location…a larger building. THIS weekend. Chairs. No more church pews. It is all good, but it is DIFFERENT. It is CHANGE and I don’t like change. I like predictability. I like systems I can count on. I like things returned to their original place.

The value of being coached
I don’t know what I would do without my coach. We just completed my weekly call with her. (Thanks, Kim!) She helps me “Clear”. Do you know that coaching term?

Clearing vs. venting
In the coaching world, we don’t call it “venting”. We call it “clearing”. We clear out the “log jam” as she referred to it today. The coach is the encourager when we can’t see the Light. When we are discouraged and feel like we are not making a difference in our world. When we are just plain weary and wonder how to make sense of it all.

Good vs. evil
The Screwtape Letters book by C. S. Lewis reminds us in a novel way that satan’s lies to us are real and can knock us off course. To get us OFF our “Mission”. he is skilled in the art of confusing us and wasting our time on the unimportant. satan can make dark to seem light and light can begin to seem dark. Good and evil fight for our time and attention. Have you read that book? It drove me crazy by the way. It messed with my brain, but it is an eye-opener to the reality of spiritual warfare.

Focus control
When things are confusing it is easy for me to only focus on the problem rather than the bigger picture. Like this graphic on this blog. Did you notice the beauty? The greenery all around the log jam? Sometimes we have to search really hard to find any beauty in our life’s “picture”.

Do you see the beauty?
I admit, I missed the beauty on first view. But when I saw it, I saw the connection to real life. It can be easy to be so busy that we focus ONLY on the log jam. Let’s concentrate on changing that together!
