Meditation: Submit. Resist. Flee. Praise.

Short Meditation from James
We often hear that we are to resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Resist. And flee.
These are words. But what does that mean in practical terms? Is there more?

Yes! There is a minor detail
It actually precedes the resist and flee parts of the Scripture.

There are four steps, but we must begin with the FIRST step:

  1. SUBMIT to GOD. Read His Word. Turn TOWARD God. Accept the fact that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. Only then will you have the power/strength to…
  2. RESIST the devil. (It is a conscious choice.) And FLEE FROM him. Run away! Don’t hang around. Only by first submitting to God will you have the power/strength to turn away from evil.  Away from temptation. And T H E N … you and God are on the same side and…
  3. T H E N … the devil will then FLEE FROM YOU. Don’t give up. It is a daily challenge. Stay the course. Trust God’s timing.
  4. Sing God’s praises. Experience a relationship with your Creator. DRAW NEAR TO GOD in His Word and through praise and worship. The devil hates to hear the Lord God praised. And he hates to hear you speak Jesus’ name reverently. Call to Jesus when you need help! He is always available 24/7.

Leave the results to God
Do what you can do and then leave to God what only God can do. It is simple but it can sometimes be difficult to be consistent. Keep practicing until it becomes like second nature.

James 4:7, 8, 10
”Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded…Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.”
